Greater energy efficiency and operational reliability for textile production at Linz Textil GmbH
With the modernization project, airinotec is ensuring future-proof control of the air conditioning systems in Linz Textil's weaving mill. In addition to greater operational reliability and more energy efficiency, the weaving mills also benefit from more precise control and significantly reduced CO₂ emissions - another step towards sustainable production.
What is the initial situation?
Linz Textil GmbH, known for the production of high-quality textiles such as clothing, bathrobes and workwear as well as technical fabrics, attaches great importance to the efficiency and operational reliability of its production facilities. To ensure this, regular modernization and maintenance measures are carried out. In the company's weaving mill B, an increasing number of control-related problems were identified in the air conditioning system - a clear indication of the need for a comprehensive modernization of the control technology.
Technical upgrades for smooth operation
As part of the modernization, the control components of the air conditioning system - including the module rack, CPU and control unit - are replaced by modern, more powerful models. This new control technology is supported by specially developed software. It enables targeted operation of the air conditioning system and thus contributes to significant energy savings. A new 12" control unit is available as an option, which further improves the overview and control.
Energy efficiency through the use of frequency inverters with intelligent control
A key aspect of modernization is increasing energy efficiency. By using frequency inverters that regulate the speed of the fan drive motors, the power consumption of the air conditioning system can be significantly reduced. A sample calculation shows: Just a 20% reduction in air volume leads to electricity savings of around 50%.
As the customer produces the electricity himself, the price per kWh used for the calculation is very low. Nevertheless, the payback period of 22 months - including the improved operational reliability - is a remarkable result.
Comprehensive inspection and installation for long-term efficiency
Before commissioning, a technician checks the function of the field devices to ensure that all components are working properly. On request, an electricity meter can be installed in the control cabinet to document energy consumption before the conversion.
Extension of the modernization to Weberei A and Vossen GmbH & Co. KG
Following the successful commissioning of the retrofit of the control technology in weaving mill B and the positive feedback from Linz Textil GmbH, it was decided to also modernize the control of the air conditioning system in weaving mill A in a future-proof manner. At the same time, the wholly owned subsidiary of Linz Textil AG, Vossen GmbH & Co. KG, also commissioned a comprehensive modernization of the air conditioning system in its weaving mill in Jennersdorf. This retrofit includes not only the renewal of the control technology, but also the replacement of the outdated sensors and the ventilation control flaps. The total order value for both projects amounts to €150,000 - another significant step towards increasing efficiency and sustainably optimizing the production facilities.
Sustainable electricity savings and CO₂ reduction
The new, intelligent control system enables electricity savings of around 670,000 kWh per year for both projects. This corresponds to a reduction of around 550 tons of CO₂ per year - a significant contribution to the sustainability and environmental friendliness of the production processes. These measures impressively demonstrate how targeted modernization can achieve both economic benefits and ecological improvements. We look forward to implementing further projects to increase efficiency and operational safety together with our customers in the future.
